If you love Richard Scarry and love fire trucks / firefighters, August 23, 2010 K. Kane (Atlanta, GA) then this book is for you. My 4-year old son chooses for me to read some Richard Scarry book every night. He LOVES fire trucks, firefighters, and fire stations. So, this was a no-brainer. Story is very silly, but we've read it every evening for days and days.
Disappointing January 29, 2010 C. Wyatt (Indiana) We checked this out from the library and were disappointed. We own 4 of the Big Books by Richard Scary. My son is 3 yrs old and can look/read them for 20-40 minutes a piece. A few pages are worn out from constant looking, pointing, and drooling when he was teething. For boys, I highly recommend "Cars and Trucks and Things That Go". This title was read once and forgotten. Glad it was borrowed instead of purchased.
Silly, pointless story October 1, 2009 CCS in Apex (Apex, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the ORIGINAL, madcap Richard Scarry stories, but this one is just plain ridiculous. The firefighters spend most of the story cleaning up messy car accidents instead of fighting fires. The final line of the book is something like "We'll clean up the mess. Don't worry, it's all in a firefighter's day." What, are they maids?
It's no "Cars and Trucks and Things that Go" May 23, 2009 DK (Colorado Rockies) My son loves "Cars and Trucks and...". He also loves fire trucks, so I thought this would be a solid book. No such luck. I feel kinda strange being a critic of a kids book, however this one just stinks. Sorry Mr. Scarry - I really do like most of your books.
Richard Scarry's A Day at the Fire Station May 8, 2009 Anne B. Crump (Boston, MA) My son LOVES this book. It is funny and creative with lots to look at and lots of laughs. I would recommend this book to any preschooler.
