Kids will love this March 2, 2010 Michelle R. Ramos (Austin, TX) My almost 5-year old and 3 1/2-year old sons received a basic set of these as a gift recently and we're eyeing this set for the elder's upcoming birthday. We had to show them how to do things the first couple of days but now they're creating all sorts of things on their own and are begging for more pieces to work with. They're making things their father and I have difficulty duplicating, which is fantastic! I highly recommend the Magnext products for kids.
Truly Excellent Toys. December 1, 2009 Thomas Luongo My daughter's 3 and a 1/2 and we've been playing with these since last christmas when we got one 55 count basic set. She'd been playing with larger magnetic ball and stick toys for a while before that, ones large enough that she couldn't eat them. Up until recently she mostly just watched my wife and I build things but within the last 4 months or so, she's taken to building her own things. These are smaller for sure and we didn't allow her to play with them unattended until just a few months ago... but she loves them. Just showing her how to make basic shapes like cubes and tetrahedrons was a revelation for her, and that got her started. She's beginning to branch out and make more random stuff but she's definitely got a purpose while building. My point is that while these are recommended for children over 6, with the proper attention, supervision and enthusiasm much younger children can find these toys interesting and rewarding. Of course, older children (like 40+ year olds) like them too. Ta,
Keeps kids entertained November 13, 2009 M. Moss My 13 year old son received this as a birthday gift. He loves Magnext products and this one is no exception. The set has a great assortment of pieces and my son can create many interesting things. I like that it is all contained in a great carrying case that even has room to hold other Magnext products. I definitely recommend this product for all children aged 6-14.
Magnext & Organizer March 14, 2009 Christina Biggert (Escondido, CA) It is a little too old yet for our son. He is almost 4, and they suggest it for 6+. He has very good fine motor skills, but it still is pretty intricate to create something. I would suggest, if you want to get something like this for yours younger than 6, get one with more straight bars than all these unusual shapes. I really like the case, since it separates the pieces AND keeps them all together, as well as being able to be used to build on (in center when open). Those little metal balls roll everywhere; smart to use on rug / carpet.
