Product Description Boasting a 20-inch wingspan and featuring multiple points of articulation, the Leonopteryx creature figure will seat one action figure (not included). This works with most other 3 3/4" - 4 1/4" figures(sold separately). This figure is accompanied by a character-specific Level 4 webcam i-TAG and a display stand. Not a flying toy. This figure is a highly detailed replica of the creature from James Cameron's 2009 film, Avatar. Measuring 24.4 meters in length with a 20-meter wingspan, the garishly-hued Leonopteryx, is among the most formidable of Pandora's creatures, is a carnivore which primarily feeds upon the likes of Mountain and Forest Banshees. The Leonopteryx is armed with monstrous jaws, a razor-sharp fin, and immense talons. Jake Sully's successful attempt to tame a Great Leonopteryx, earning him the mystic title of Toruk Makto, generates profound reverence among the Na'vi, helping to unite the latter against their human adversaries.

You're Gonna Need A Bigger Toybox July 3, 2010 Guy 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
With a 20" wingspan and a 14.5" body, this toy is enormous. And Amazon has it on sale for less than $20? Buy this. Buy this now. This is a detailed (mostly), very accurate representative of the enormous flying beast from the movie. But is it worth your money if you like creatures, or Avatar, or cool dragon-looking things? Yes. PROS: -Highly detailed on the top, torso, neck and head. -Huge. Incredible value for money. -Durable. -The tips of the giant wings are a clear plastic, and it is both a really nice touch, and makes it stand out among other toys or figures. -It's a lot easier to move the wings up and down than on its smaller counterpart, the Banshee. CONS: -The only articulation is in minor adjustments of the wings up and down, or tilting the neck and head up and down, or rotating the head from side to side. -Have dry, clean hands to snap the head onto the neck, and the neck onto the body. It can take a lot of strength and patience to do both. -The underside of a lot of the body is not detailed, but painted the base color of the body. -The stand won't let you rotate the figure in any way. I am very happy with this figure, regardless of its flaws. It stands proud among my other displays.
Better than the green one June 17, 2010 John S. Dean (Sturtevant, WI United States) I got this along with the gunship, robot walker, and the green flier. This one is a better build quality than the smaller green one. Wings fit better at the body, and on this one actually *can* be forcefully pried into two positions, though as another reviewer stated the difference is very subtle, not much of an angle difference. But at least these wings conform to the body well, there's not some really bad misfit joining like the smaller one. I have had no problems with the wings staying in mine with my 6 year old playing with it though, all my pieces are in there very solidly. Like the smaller green one, I'm curious about the "20 points of articulation", since I cannot find them... We don't have any of the humanoid figures, so I can't comment on the fit and matching of the scale... Colors are pretty good, but as so many others have said, could've been a bit more vibrant like the movie. Good detail though, and a very good representation of the creature especially at this price point. Solidly built.
Avatar toys June 4, 2010 LM (Oregon) Bought this for my son's b-day in May. My son LOVED it. I was thrilled to find this on-line since the movie came out on dvd and all the stores had previously put all avatar toys on clearance and were not getting any more in. Thank goodness for Amazon!
The mighty Leonopteryx April 23, 2010 Jill Crossley (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are a fan of the movie 'Avatar', you will know the impact the first viewing of Leonopteryx delivers. Other denizens of Pandora are almost as impressive with the Thanator and Direhorse being top of the list, but for me none quite delivered the punch of Leonopteryx. i thought that the Banshee was a fabulous beast but the larger Leon' just blew me away and i knew i had to have one. i had some trouble obtaining the Leon' as unfortunately it isn't available in England for some reason and i had to buy it through the American Amazon store - even then my troubles were not over, as the seller doesn't despatch overseas and i had to send it to a friend living in Alaska USA, so she could send it on to me. The fact that the Leon was a good price and the delivery charges were also reasonable helped me decide to go this route. i have to say i fail to see the problem in posting overseas sales - sending items to Alaska can be as expensive! But luckily many more will sell overseas without these reservations. It is almost as annoying as those sellers who will not accept UK credit cards - i have one thing to say to them, "Use Paypal and step into the international market!"
Best figure of the Avatar series April 10, 2010 C. Schein 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This figure is massive and gigantic and very articulated. the colors on this figure are beautiful and amazing to look at. this figure is very durable but very difficult to put together even for an adult. dont know how this toy could possibly be educational. If you loved AVATAR this is the first toy i would recommend you purchase, i have no complaints about this product, amazing for all ages.
