Product Description Conventional look. Suitable for any setting, the Livingston is traditionally styled with a hardwood base and die-cast semi-meridian. The two-way map and raised-relief design of this 12" diameter globe provide a standard view of the physical world or an illuminated display of the political world.

Disappointing globe February 5, 2010 FFDR (Chicago, IL, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Upon receiving the globe with much anticipation, I was disappointed, for two reasons: 1. The seam along the equator is very wide and visible. When the globe is plugged in w/ light on, there is a visible shade around the seam/equator that looks simply ugly. This globe is certainly not suitable as decoration. 2. The raised-relief map is not precise. Upon casual examination, I found that Mount McKinley is in the ocean, and Switzerland is all flat, and so on and so forth (where on earth do those Swiss ski then?!) I'd rather have no relief than one that is off by 1/4 inch. In short, don't buy it if you want to get a top quality globe.

As a feedback I received an enthusiastic email, what a big joy I prepared her with this unexpected beautiful present, this educativ and surprisingly informing illuminated globe! - Above that all a wonderful decoration for her home! UR from WOB, (D).
Pretty much as was described. My grandaughter aged 8 loves it. October 31, 2008 Vallianne Bruce (S.W. England) 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my eight year old grandaughter who lives in the USA. She loves it and has great pleasure telling everyone that it is a TOPOgraphical Globe! She visits maybe once a year and we visit there from UK maybe twice a year so she wanted to know more about where everything was. She is still calling the SW of England - Cornwall - where we still live although we originated from London, a "town". She has a problem with understanding "counties" but she will get there. My sons are in the RAF so she now knows where they are currently stationed -Bahrain and Cyprus - but the US Post Office keep asking my daughter what country they are in ? They ARE countries. Buy a globe like this and you can see that.
