Editorial Review
With all the high-tech electronic toys available for kids today, it would seem that the basics would be long forgotten. However, often the classic toys are the ones children want to play with the most. This classic block set includes 50 solid wood 1-inch-square blocks that are ideal for stacking or building. Two sides of each block feature carved letters or numbers in bright primary colors for teaching the alphabet or counting during play. The other four sides feature stamped letters, numbers, or pictures for additional practice in identification. Blocks come in a hard plastic storage case with a cord handle for easily transporting to Grandma's house. This block set will most likely become the most used toy in the playroom. --Cristina Vaamonde

5 out of 5 stars Baby loves them!   July 24, 2010

Love the colors and pictures. Size is perfect for baby's little hands as she is learning to pick things up.

5 out of 5 stars Great toy even for babies   March 11, 2010

I bought it to my son when he was 7 mos, although it states 2 years +. And that's one of his favorite still. Now he's 9. Every time he sees the box with blocks he opens it himself and takes all the blocks out: biting them or just throwing away. They are very durable and have wooden smell which I like. Better than plastic. We play with these blocks by building towers or pyramids and then "destroying" them.
I would highly recommend this toy to my friends.

My grandson loves to put the blocks in an out of the bag, howvere I thought the blocks would be bigger.

5 out of 5 stars You Can't Go Wrong With Blocks!   February 5, 2010
Renny Wilson (Odessa, TX United States)
I bought these blocks for my 3 year old grandson for Christmas 2009. My daughter actually thought that these were "old fashioned," but guess what--over a month later and out of all of the toys he received, what does he play with EVERY SINGLE DAY? Yes, the blocks. When his cousins visit they, too, head for the blocks. These blocks are durable and lead free and because they have a different image/letter/number on each side, they can be used to teach many different concepts.

Some of the concepts that can be taught with these blocks: colors, color grouping, letter recognition, number recognition, numbering, image identification (the blocks are stamped with images such as birds, animals, and common household items on some sides).

AND let's not forget that stacking these blocks develop coordination and through trail and error a child learns what will and will not work. My grandson has learned that if he wants to build a tall tower he must make sure his foundation is sturdy and that the blocks are stacked evenly. He's used mega legos since he was a one year old and I initially thought that since the new blocks didn't snap together he might get frustrated. Not so!

Great fun for the whole family! Highly recommended.

2 out of 5 stars Ehh so-so   January 27, 2010

These are not the blocks you grew up with as a kid. They are much smaller, cheaper and don't have paint around the entire blocks. Our child will learn from them, and that's the most important thing, but the product leaves much to be desired.
